Biodiversity Week in Annascaul

Annascaul Adventures celebrated Biodiversity week last weekend in Annascaul with a programme filled with activities for all. It started with a nature walk and talk with Albert Nolan (DJ “Wild about Limerick”) and Elizabeth Brookes. Dr David McCormick of The Irish Wildlife Trust came and gave a wonderful guided Bat walk & talk which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. He also gave a great insight to Marine life in Annascaul river along with Jim Scholar which children and adults took great delight and pleasure in examining the species in the river. Local man Mossy O’Connor gave a stunning account of wildflowers and general Ecology of the Annascaul Area. Darrach Ó Murchú cooked up a storm outdoors with his fabulous recipes from foraging in the Tom Crean Garden. Top author of Wildflowers of Ireland, Zoe Devlin gave a very informative and interesting slideshow and talk to a large crowd in the Community Centre which concluded with tea & cakes. Results of all competitions will be published soon.
Annascaul Adventures would like to thank everyone who was involved in this fantastic weekend especially Elizabeth Brookes who helped to organize this weekend.

Celebrating Singing 2017

Annascaul celebrating singing will celebrate the second birthday of the Annascaul Singing Club. This event will take place in Annascaul Village, the homeplace of Tom Crean and Jerome O’Connor, from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th June. In 2016, the occasion was marked by the staging of a variety of musical experiences, ranging from pub sessions to singing, harmony, and guitar workshops, and was well supported by the local community.

They are proud to announce that on Friday evening, 9th June 2017,  the event’s second birthday celebrations will be opened by Philip King, founder and curator of the annual ‘Other Voices’ festival, member of Scullion, documentary film maker and one of Ireland’s most prominent cultural ambassadors. They are delighted to be given the opportunity to bring such a legendary figure in the Irish music industry to Annascaul, and they hope that you come out and join them in the opening of what promises to be an unforgettable music experience.
